Are Too Many Affiliate Programs Bad for you?
Are Too Many Affiliate Programs Bad For You? That's the matter at hand and who's actually resolving it?
When I started affiliate marketing, the 1st thing I read was create a website and quickly lost interest, the topic in fact takes me back to when I was in 10th grade and was about to do physics as a major till I heard about boiling points, quantum chemistry, calculus etc. and knew immediately I was in the wrong class, yes, I switched subjects and did economics instead. Later, as my desperation would have me on how to make money online and finding solutions instead of taking online surveys which paid peanuts, really, it’s inhuman what online surveys pay but I did find one thing, their “referral program” there it was, a little pot of gold and I realized wow, someone can make me money by them making money, later a tumblr blog came to being and as soon as I started blogging I couldn’t stop.
To my surprise, I later found myself being addicted to something else – joining affiliate programs. I’d explore and search plenty websites in search of one thing ‘affiliate program’ the moment I saw this, my email account and details were already filled in. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? We become greedy seeing so many other ways to make money it’s like operating a multifunctional business by the end of the day but the only problem is this business doesn’t return the profits’ expected.
Where did I go wrong? Too much work leads to no work being done. You’re familiar with the paradox “more speed less haste” and “too many chooks spoil the broth”, yes? Sure you are and this was my mistake and we as affiliates make it quite too often as we’re not limited to the number of programs we may join unless rejected, which is impossible nowadays as you can create a page related to that affiliate program and hide all other pages that may make them reject you, well now you know. My aim was to make as much money as possible and being part of a lot of affiliate programs to keep me smiling by pay day. And too many people will tell you how wrong it is to do that but not offer or at least for themselves’ bring up a solution. So how was I to multi-task with a job and maintaining lucrative and successful ad campaigns? We won’t leave that unanswered, here’s how:
-
Create a 5 page website these have to be visible pages with a header and footer and people can maneuver easily from page to page
-
Create hidden pages, I was surprised reading a site builder review and seeing that the site owner only had 2 pages. I sat there thinking wow, you bought a domain and pay for advertising for just 2 pages? Actually it’s a smart move, hide the header and footer and create a landing page.
-
Your hidden/landing page should be hidden under links, your links could be in words like read more or try now which ever suits you. A landing page’s great since it motivates buying, its attracting and just tells the user to buy
-
Publish your page and create a targeted ad campaign for it with appropriate keywords. Not everyone who accesses your site is there for the blog, extra info and all that so cater to these people by making use of landing pages.
-
You can use and hide some landing pages to join different programs but try not to go for something not related to your site name, it doesn’t alert visitors that’s the go-to site in search engines.
The only problem you'll encounter is not tracking and/or keyword research since you'll need to dedicate keywords to these hidden or landing pages therefore it may prove to be expensive if you make use of PPC SEO tools. Make a list of affiliate programs you've joined and track performance to which programs are making you money and what's wasting your time. Now you have passive income from multiple companies from your niche website and didn't have to create another website for it
