Warning: Don’t Be This Affiliate

Affiliate marketing or link marketing some would say, creates online wealth with little or no investment, just a side note “no investment?” you ask, yes email marketing for one can make you passive income provided you have a good list of email contacts. Back to the topic, making money online has never been easier than this by now you know the steps to getting started: create a website, buy a domain, website traffic through SEO tools and site visits ultimately lead to conversations the information, advice and tips from multiple experts is endless too. Unfortunately most affiliates ignore such advice if not only apply what’s applicable to them and make do with the little they make as a result.

I know you’re asking yourself “who does this?” frankly, I can’t blame them we all want to be right but sometimes the only way to be right is through information which will help us make accurate decisions and since you’re reading on this topic I assume you’re prepared to avoid mistakes most affiliates make.

    1. Not Brainstorming

Think about this illustration, a school of Salmon all have one objective in mind: that’s to reproduce, swim upstream and migrate there successfully whilst avoiding Grizzly Bears and predators alike. You’re the salmon, your objective’s to multiply your money invested in site traffic and advertising and minimizing most of your money never to ‘surface’ again and lastly you’re in a fierce market everyone’s competing to make money and rank higher than you. The difference is Salmon make use of instincts, we humans never knew all we need to know and therefore you need to observe your affiliate efforts and mistakes as a competent business would. Be the businessman, be in your boardroom and brainstorm.

Stop and think what’s my objective: Do I want leads, site visits, create visitor loyalty or conversions, am I doing this long or short-term etc… and work around that. You’ll save more money and have a key focus point and will reach it.

    2.  Selling & Not Helping

Have you ever accessed a site where you’re given the information you need and as soon as you’re excited to access whatever you’ve been looking for all you find is BUY NOW, PURCHASE NOW and all you can think of is "I’ve wasted your time here" This happens way too often, where an affiliate’s website has nothing for free and everything’s sold. You know what happens to these affiliates? Visitors access an alternative site that’s more helpful and your reputation is flawed. Help people, sometimes people are just looking for information and once your site becomes the go-to site you’ll be surprised how they come back and build loyalty. Don’t get me wrong, you may sell just don’t overdo it to such an extent that your website looks like a Black Friday Sale.

     3. Overlooking ebooks

I don’t know about you but I’m an ebooks guy, ebooks give you time to kick back, relax and read at your own pace and gain more knowledge. How helpful are ebooks? People are always looking for information and the internet's a pool of information, you grow tired going from site to site looking for relevant information so ebooks narrow the search. Affiliates too want to access plenty of ebooks and stay ahead of lazy competitors who want to only know what they are only limited to. ebooks are free of course, that’s the best part(I don’t endorse buying Ebooks) and a little secret between me and you dear friend, most affiliates don’t know that by giving away an ebook you can add some affiliate hoplinks in the book which makes more profits for you Sshh... Don't tell them!

    4. Youtube Tutorials

We read every ebook that we host on our website, well maybe not entirely but we know too well which ebooks are worth reading and which ones are information about information, sucks I know but you find such. Looking at the silver lining, on Youtube you can always fast forward just to see where this is going. You’re an affiliate gaining experience viewing all these make money online tutorial videos how about you make your own and make money from these videos yourself.

Did you know Youtube has an ad campaign. You can target your audience by age, gender, age, location and interests but to do this you need an Adwords account. Make use of this, your competitors probably aren’t, it’s a niche worth being explored.

     5. Promoting Wrong Products

Lastly, it’s rare not finding a ClickBank affiliate, you probably are one of them if not you definitely belong to another affiliate network. If you’re a ClickBank affiliate you know too well you do find products not worth promoting and may ruin your reputation – don’t promote any product that you doubt will sell or personally wouldn't purchase. I personally don’t promote products that contain too much information about the product, if I have to read too much I’m less likely to buy but find something else, why? The buyer wants to know the benefits of the product and didn't opt in for a history lesson
